Express Entry System
Government of Canada chooses skilled immigrants as permanent residents based on their ability to settle in Canada and take part in their economy using points based Comprehensive Ranking System called Express Entry.
The Express Entry is used to manage application for permanent residence under various Federal Economic Immigration Programs.
The Express Entry System creates a pool of candidates by using Comprehensive Ranking System based on their skills, work experience, language ability and other factors to rank the candidates. A maximum 1200 points can be allotted under the Express Entry System. The highest ranked candidates are invited to immigrate to Canada.
The system has two steps:
- The potential candidates complete an online Express Entry Profile where they needs to provide information about their skills, work experience, language ability, education and other details. The processing fees need to be paid and necessary documents need to be included.
- Based on the information provided the candidates are accepted into a pool of candidates and the highest ranked candidates from the pool are invited to apply for permanent residence. The draw for the same is normally conducted every month. Chances for invitation to apply improves in case the candidate has a job offer supported by Labour Market Impact Assessment or a nomination by a Province or Territory.
The normal processing time for most applications under Express Entry system is six months or less and the status of the application can be checked on line.
